Hi and hello, I have a new Vicki Boutin Mixed Media Layout for you. I started this Page on the White Foundation Paper, because I wanted to add color and water. The quality of the paper allows me to do that – without any curling from the paper. It is the perfect paper for Mixed Media!
So, I grabbed the “Watermelon Burst” Acrylic Pop Color (Set 2) and watered it down, so that I can get a nice messy color area on my Paper. I added a lot of splatters, used one of the Watercolor Brushes for it. I also mixed a Distress Oxide (peacock feathers) to the acrylic color on the Paper. I really like how the colors look together.
Before I started to work on my page design I grabbed the “Blue Hawaiian” Color Pop Acrylic Paint (Set 3) and an old Gift card to get more color on the paper. No water this time, just the plain color.
I used some big Die Cut Pieces from the “All the Good Things Frames” Pack for my layering behind the Photo. I only used blue, green and black here. Really like how the colors are matching the Medias I already have on my Layout. I also added a lot of black stitches (used my sewing machine) to the color areas for more interest and another texture. I think that stitching is always a good idea or just some thread behind some Die Cuts… you could also use matching colors and it will totally change the look of the Layout. Or if you just want to add a tiny hint of color behind something, grab some thread, make a little tangled nest from it and tuck it between the papers/photos.
The Paint on the edges looked a bit empty so I decided to add some Die Cuts to it. For the upper corner I used a little label, stitched it down, added a stamp and a glitter heart on top. Done!
For the lower Corner I grabbed the Number one from the “All the Good Things Icons” Pack – remember my last Page? I used the Number two for my second born boy. And yes, I will work on another Layout with the Number three for my last born… just love the Idea!
I used some Phrase/Glitter Foam Thickers for my title but not only that. I also used the Alpha/B&W Chipboard Stickers for his Name and a Chipboard Die Cut word “hey” on top from the photo. Really love to mix and match all the different Fonts.
