[werbung]

I LIKE!

hello there beautiful | vicki boutin

Hi there, i am back again and I have a fun new layout to share. I have a thing for layered paper pieces and so I decided to go with a wonky and messy square today. The colors in the Field Notes Collection are awesome, I am scrapping a picture from my hubby today, but I grabbed the soft pinks and yellows. I really don´t mind to scrap my boy photos with girly stuff.

#9hellothere

I started this Layout with a gessoed sheet of the Foundation paper, Stencils, Iridescent Glaze and the Art Crayons. I guess you already know that these little Crayons are my favorite things to play with… did you know that you can mix them with the different glazes?

#1hellothere

With that said, I scribbled some of the black Art Crayon on a piece of plastic and added Iridescent Glaze to it. Then I used the pallet knife to mix them together. You´ll get a beautiful shade of grey with a lot of shimmer in it. Just beautiful!

#2hellothere

I grabbed three different Stencils, from the new Release, and started to add the Iridescent grey on the Paper. I used my pallet knife for it. I started with some circles in one corner, some hearts and some flowers were added too. I let enough space between the shapes because I knew I wanted to color the foundation paper around them too.

#3hellothere

#4hellothere

Once everything was dry I grabbed some more Art Crayons and some flowers from the Icon pack as my color guide. So I started to mix the Art Crayons together until I was happy with the shades I created.

#5hellothere

I added a lot of water around the dried glaze and started to bring the Art Crayons pigment into it. I added a few layers of the colors, because I wanted to have a messy watercolor look. You´ll get that look/effect when you let each layer dry completely. I played with the water and the Art Crayons… until I was totally happy.

#6hellothere

Then I went ahead and used a square paper as a template. I cut the paper I created in wonky triangles and added some of the patterned papers from the 12×12 Paper pad too. I really love how this turned out, and yes, they are wonky and not straight, but that was exactly the look I wanted. I also added four layers of tissue paper to each of the triangles and stitched them together.

#7hellothere

Once I was done with the stitching part I started to look to other embellishments I wanted to use. I grabbed some flowers, butterflies and stickers. But I also stamped some leaves on some matching patterned papers. Fussy cut them out and added them to the mix of elements. I really love this tone on tone thing. You can never go wrong with that.

#8hellothere

I laid everything on another sheet of the foundation paper and after I was totally sure about the placement I started to glue the things down. I used some 3D dots for more dimension and I also ruffled up the edges from the messy triangles and flowers/leaves; just because I love the look of it.

#10hellothere

I stapled some last chipboard stickers on the photo and placed my title on top of everything. I love how the black word pops off the page.

#11hellothere

I hope you enjoyed this little how to and I hope even more that you´ll will get creative today too!
There is a process video up on my YouTube channel as well, have fun watching it.
Thanks for stopping by and I wish you all a great day

be a little crazy | vicki boutin

Hi everyone, Jana back again and I have another Field Notes layout to share. I enjoy working with this collection so much. Everything works so well together and it is so easy to create some magic with this line. The photo for this project shows me and my little one. We just had fun with some selfies and I think this one was four years ago. I love this silly monkey so much

#8behappy

I started this project with a lot of fussy cutting. I grabbed the 12×12 patterned papers “Choose to shine”, “Among the Wildflowers” and “Take Flight” and started to cut out a lot of the flowers, leaves and butterflies. I also grabbed “Daydreamer” to create some simple leaves from the bright green; I added some stitching details to them. A few Die Cuts were added to the mix too.

#1behappy

I knew that I wanted to split the paper visually. That’s why I have provided the lower part with black stripes. I used the black watercolor for it. I added a bit of the color to a piece of plastic and added water to it. I am working on the white Foundation Paper and have not used any gesso for it. I would have done that when I have used more water.

#2behappy

For the upper part of the paper, I wanted to have something tender. So I decided to use the Art Crayons and a stencil. I took the green from the leaves and added a few delicate circles. The template is from the set {ink spill} – one of my favorites from the new release.

#3behappy

I used the big stencil brush for this. It is so easy and what I love the most. You can customize your colors so easy with the Art Crayons, just mix them together on some plastic and load the brush with it; with circular movements, you pick up the pigments and can put them on paper for the same way, very simple but so effective! I also added a few splatters in the same colors, just for more interest.

#4behappy

Once I was happy with my background I started to lay down all of the flowers and leaves. The big Die Cut piece “be happy” is my title. I really love this pieces with Vicki´s own handwriting. All of the pieces were adhered down with some foam tape, for more dimension and interest. I curled up the edges from the leaves because of the natural look and feel from leaves.

#5behappy

Then I went ahead and added the butterflies to the mix. I love how that is looking and you can never go wrong with butterflies and flowers, right?

#6behappy

Because of the black stripes in the lower part I decided to add some black hearts to the upper part too. I grabbed some black and white watercolor stickers too. The last thing I’ve added was the word Smile and a Chipboard sticker. I really love this mix of fonts and words here.

#7behappy

Thank you so much for stopping by today and don´t forget to grab yourself some “Field Notes” goodies and have some fun.

Be your own Light | Vicki Boutin

Hey everyone, i have a new Layout to share. Field Notes is giving me so much new ideas and I see inspiration in each single piece. The idea for this layout came with a quote and a little story someone told me. Sometimes you need to be your own light and you need to focus on your own way… and sometimes I need that reminder, I can´t blame anyone else if something does not work or when I did not try the new way… so yeah, long story short, this is my reminder page for myself.

#9light

I started this project with stamping and heat embossing. I grabbed the big butterfly (or is it a moth?) stamp, some gold embossing powder and vellum. I also grabbed my We R HappyJig tool to create the word “light” – that was not easy; the letter T was driving me crazy!

#1alight

The watercolor stickers and the colored vellum stickers are one of my favorite pieces, the colors are gorgeous. I knew I wanted to use some of the vellum stickers and they inspired me to create a rainbow on the background paper… Art Crayons are the best and easiest way for some magic!

#1light

I grabbed a 12×12 sheet from the Foundation paper, a piece of plastic, a brush, water and the art crayons and started with my rainbow. I scribbled some art crayon on the piece of plastic, added some water and kissed the color on the paper. Just some small spots with color and splatters. I mixed the art crayons together and this is totally therapeutic for me, so relaxing and it makes me happy.

#2light

I don’t want to have hard lines between the colors so I let them mixed together and this is giving you some new shades and different coverage on the paper. The matching splatters are just the perfect finishing touches here.

#3light

Now that the background is ready to go I started to embellish everything. The photo is showing me with some cute glasses one. I placed the photo next to green and blue colors, just because of the color from the glasses. The butterflies were placed all over the page and a few from them got a small thread nest, just for more interest and texture. I also colored two watercolor stickers and placed them between the butterflies. Some of the vellum stickers were added to the matching colors on the paper.  I also grabbed two pieces from the “Field Notes” Icon pack and added them to mix.

#4light

#5light

The word “light” is a part from my title and was attached to the paper with some staples. I completed the title with some small black alpha stickers and to finish this layout I grabbed a lot of matching enamel dots from my stash. I can´t get enough from tone on tone details.

#6light

#7light

I really love how this Layout turned out. The Art Crayons in the background mixed and blended together so well… the colors are beautiful and the new Collection is a big inspiration source

adventure | vicki boutin

Hi everyone, Jana back again. I have a new Layout to share. This one is a mixed media light version. Sometimes I just want the DieCuts to stand out and the beautiful Colors. So for this one I decided to add only some watercolors in the background. Just a hint of color…

#8adventure

I started this Layout with a tiny photo and some matching DieCuts from the “Field Notes” Collection. I wanted to use green and blues for this project; you´ll find a lot of them in the collection.
The photo shows me and my little one, 2010 I think, and he loved the camera at the computer. He was so fascinated to see himself at the monitor, so cute!

#1adventure

I wanted to add the foundation paper to a patterned paper because I already knew I wanted to use a small amount of Elements (mainly because of the small picture) and only a touch of color behind everything. I wanted to help the white foundation paper to stand out even without a lot of mixed media on it and a colored border is just perfect!

#2adventure

I also grabbed the watercolors to create my own blue shade for my background. I wanted to get as close as possible to the blue in the flowers. So I mixed blue with white and a touch of purple with a lot of water.

#3adventure

Before I added any color to the background I went over it with a big wet brush. I knew I wanted to have everything centered, so I added a few wet brush strokes to the paper; the watercolors started to run and flow in the water and this is totally relaxing to see. I added some different shades as splatters and also splattered plain water into the wet colors. This is giving you a lot of variations and different color intensities.

#4adventure

I wanted to create some black accents to the background, so I grabbed one the of the new stencils, the one with the hearts, and one of my silhouette sketch pens and started to scribble down some hearts. This is an easy way to add some shapes to your background without getting to messy or to lose the control of the media you´re adding.

#5adventure

Once I was happy with my background I started to add the DieCuts, the title and my photo. I created a flower/leave cluster around my picture and added a leaf and a flower to the long title. I love the black handwritten words from Vicki!

#6adventure

Some of the scribbled black hearts were kinda lost on the paper, so I decided to fill them with more black scribbles, I love how this is looking and it is making a big difference. Because I really love to add black and white to my colors I grabbed two more watercolor stickers and one bigger Die Cut.

#7adventure

To finish this Layout I added my journaling under the title and two more stickers, which I placed directly on the photo.  I really love how this Layout turned out and I really love this new collection from Vicki!

#9adventure

I also have a process Video, ready for you to watch, up on my YouTube Channel.

Thanks for stopping by today

happy heart | vicki boutin

Hi everyone, I am so excited to share this Layout with you. I just got the new Collection “Field Notes” from Vicki and I am so in love with all of the pretty things. I had a look into the gorgeous papers and I really liked the soft pinks and yellows, so I wanted to create some layered flowers with matching colors behind it and some black and white accents.

#9happyheart-compl

I started with a CutFile from Paige Evans and three different patterned papers from the 12×12 Paper pad. Because if knew I wanted to use some soft colors behind the flowers I decided to work on a white sheet of the Foundations paper, I also added a thin layer of Matte Acrylic Gel to it.

#1happyheart-material

The next step was to create some matching colors with the Art Crayons (Warm Set), I added two or three different colors together to get the perfect shade. I really love how easy that works with the Crayons. You just need to scribble some of them on some plastic and add water. This is so easy but so effective. Art Crayons are one of my favorite products when it comes to mixed media.

#2happyheart-crayonsflower

I added a lot of water to the Art Crayons because I wanted to create some running color stripes under the flowers. Three flowers, three areas of color and I am totally happy. There is magic happening…

#3happyheart-backflowers

There are two new stamps and die sets in the new collection and they are awesome. I grabbed one of the leaves stamp and stamped it in black on white cardstock. Fussy cutting for the win! I really love the pop of black next to the soft colors from the patterned paper and the art crayons in the background.

#4happyheart-stamps

#5happyheart-backflos

The photo shows my mum, two of my three boys, my niece and my nephew back in 2005, just hanging out in the garden and having a great time. I placed the photo in the middle from the flowers and the leaves. The new DieCuts are just the cutest things and I really love how the bird and the mushroom are getting back to the nature theme from the photo. I also added some black & white Watercolor stickers to the background.

#6happyheart-layoutcloseup

I tried to stay in the same colors as the flowers with the elements. Some pieces were placed behind the photo just for a touch of color and more dimension/layering.

#7happyheart-layoutcloseup

Some Puffy Stickers were added to finish this Layout. I placed two colored circles to the middle of two flowers, the yellow one got one the labels on top of it. My title is “happy heart” from the puffy stickers and I am totally happy how this layout turned out.
