Kekse | Alexandra Renke

[werbung]

I LIKE!

hello there beautiful | vicki boutin

Hi there, i am back again and I have a fun new layout to share. I have a thing for layered paper pieces and so I decided to go with a wonky and messy square today. The colors in the Field Notes Collection are awesome, I am scrapping a picture from my hubby today, but I grabbed the soft pinks and yellows. I really don´t mind to scrap my boy photos with girly stuff.

#9hellothere

I started this Layout with a gessoed sheet of the Foundation paper, Stencils, Iridescent Glaze and the Art Crayons. I guess you already know that these little Crayons are my favorite things to play with… did you know that you can mix them with the different glazes?

#1hellothere

With that said, I scribbled some of the black Art Crayon on a piece of plastic and added Iridescent Glaze to it. Then I used the pallet knife to mix them together. You´ll get a beautiful shade of grey with a lot of shimmer in it. Just beautiful!

#2hellothere

I grabbed three different Stencils, from the new Release, and started to add the Iridescent grey on the Paper. I used my pallet knife for it. I started with some circles in one corner, some hearts and some flowers were added too. I let enough space between the shapes because I knew I wanted to color the foundation paper around them too.

#3hellothere

#4hellothere

Once everything was dry I grabbed some more Art Crayons and some flowers from the Icon pack as my color guide. So I started to mix the Art Crayons together until I was happy with the shades I created.

#5hellothere

I added a lot of water around the dried glaze and started to bring the Art Crayons pigment into it. I added a few layers of the colors, because I wanted to have a messy watercolor look. You´ll get that look/effect when you let each layer dry completely. I played with the water and the Art Crayons… until I was totally happy.

#6hellothere

Then I went ahead and used a square paper as a template. I cut the paper I created in wonky triangles and added some of the patterned papers from the 12×12 Paper pad too. I really love how this turned out, and yes, they are wonky and not straight, but that was exactly the look I wanted. I also added four layers of tissue paper to each of the triangles and stitched them together.

#7hellothere

Once I was done with the stitching part I started to look to other embellishments I wanted to use. I grabbed some flowers, butterflies and stickers. But I also stamped some leaves on some matching patterned papers. Fussy cut them out and added them to the mix of elements. I really love this tone on tone thing. You can never go wrong with that.

#8hellothere

I laid everything on another sheet of the foundation paper and after I was totally sure about the placement I started to glue the things down. I used some 3D dots for more dimension and I also ruffled up the edges from the messy triangles and flowers/leaves; just because I love the look of it.

#10hellothere

I stapled some last chipboard stickers on the photo and placed my title on top of everything. I love how the black word pops off the page.

#11hellothere

I hope you enjoyed this little how to and I hope even more that you´ll will get creative today too!
There is a process video up on my YouTube channel as well, have fun watching it.
Thanks for stopping by and I wish you all a great day

be a little crazy | vicki boutin

Hi everyone, Jana back again and I have another Field Notes layout to share. I enjoy working with this collection so much. Everything works so well together and it is so easy to create some magic with this line. The photo for this project shows me and my little one. We just had fun with some selfies and I think this one was four years ago. I love this silly monkey so much

#8behappy

I started this project with a lot of fussy cutting. I grabbed the 12×12 patterned papers “Choose to shine”, “Among the Wildflowers” and “Take Flight” and started to cut out a lot of the flowers, leaves and butterflies. I also grabbed “Daydreamer” to create some simple leaves from the bright green; I added some stitching details to them. A few Die Cuts were added to the mix too.

#1behappy

I knew that I wanted to split the paper visually. That’s why I have provided the lower part with black stripes. I used the black watercolor for it. I added a bit of the color to a piece of plastic and added water to it. I am working on the white Foundation Paper and have not used any gesso for it. I would have done that when I have used more water.

#2behappy

For the upper part of the paper, I wanted to have something tender. So I decided to use the Art Crayons and a stencil. I took the green from the leaves and added a few delicate circles. The template is from the set {ink spill} – one of my favorites from the new release.

#3behappy

I used the big stencil brush for this. It is so easy and what I love the most. You can customize your colors so easy with the Art Crayons, just mix them together on some plastic and load the brush with it; with circular movements, you pick up the pigments and can put them on paper for the same way, very simple but so effective! I also added a few splatters in the same colors, just for more interest.

#4behappy

Once I was happy with my background I started to lay down all of the flowers and leaves. The big Die Cut piece “be happy” is my title. I really love this pieces with Vicki´s own handwriting. All of the pieces were adhered down with some foam tape, for more dimension and interest. I curled up the edges from the leaves because of the natural look and feel from leaves.

#5behappy

Then I went ahead and added the butterflies to the mix. I love how that is looking and you can never go wrong with butterflies and flowers, right?

#6behappy

Because of the black stripes in the lower part I decided to add some black hearts to the upper part too. I grabbed some black and white watercolor stickers too. The last thing I’ve added was the word Smile and a Chipboard sticker. I really love this mix of fonts and words here.

#7behappy

Thank you so much for stopping by today and don´t forget to grab yourself some “Field Notes” goodies and have some fun.

happy heart | vicki boutin

Hi everyone, I am so excited to share this Layout with you. I just got the new Collection “Field Notes” from Vicki and I am so in love with all of the pretty things. I had a look into the gorgeous papers and I really liked the soft pinks and yellows, so I wanted to create some layered flowers with matching colors behind it and some black and white accents.

#9happyheart-compl

I started with a CutFile from Paige Evans and three different patterned papers from the 12×12 Paper pad. Because if knew I wanted to use some soft colors behind the flowers I decided to work on a white sheet of the Foundations paper, I also added a thin layer of Matte Acrylic Gel to it.

#1happyheart-material

The next step was to create some matching colors with the Art Crayons (Warm Set), I added two or three different colors together to get the perfect shade. I really love how easy that works with the Crayons. You just need to scribble some of them on some plastic and add water. This is so easy but so effective. Art Crayons are one of my favorite products when it comes to mixed media.

#2happyheart-crayonsflower

I added a lot of water to the Art Crayons because I wanted to create some running color stripes under the flowers. Three flowers, three areas of color and I am totally happy. There is magic happening…

#3happyheart-backflowers

There are two new stamps and die sets in the new collection and they are awesome. I grabbed one of the leaves stamp and stamped it in black on white cardstock. Fussy cutting for the win! I really love the pop of black next to the soft colors from the patterned paper and the art crayons in the background.

#4happyheart-stamps

#5happyheart-backflos

The photo shows my mum, two of my three boys, my niece and my nephew back in 2005, just hanging out in the garden and having a great time. I placed the photo in the middle from the flowers and the leaves. The new DieCuts are just the cutest things and I really love how the bird and the mushroom are getting back to the nature theme from the photo. I also added some black & white Watercolor stickers to the background.

#6happyheart-layoutcloseup

I tried to stay in the same colors as the flowers with the elements. Some pieces were placed behind the photo just for a touch of color and more dimension/layering.

#7happyheart-layoutcloseup

Some Puffy Stickers were added to finish this Layout. I placed two colored circles to the middle of two flowers, the yellow one got one the labels on top of it. My title is “happy heart” from the puffy stickers and I am totally happy how this layout turned out.

Hey Zebra | Vicki Boutin

Hey everyone, Jana here with you today. I had a little break because of some health issues and I am so happy to finally craft again! It´s a real nightmare when you can´t do what you really love, right?!

Today’s project is inspired by the new Junque Journal August Prompts… Vicki made a new set of activities for the next four weeks and they are fabulous; It´s more of mixing and trying new things.
I grabbed all six of the first week’s prompts. Pastel Colors, tool – bubble wrap, flowers, in the middle, color blocking, kraft and rose gold.

#7zebra-complete

My supplies for today, Foundation Paper, Art Crayons, Acrylic Paints, Bubble Wrap, a Kraft tag, some white clouds, fussy cut flowers and some bits and pieces from the Icons and Frames Pack. The photo for today’s layout shows a Zebra, from a trip my hubby and the boys did in July (I couldn´t join them, but they send me a lot of photos)

#1zebra-supplies

I started with mixing my Acrylic pop colors with white paint, because the colors should be pastel I needed to calm them down. I also mixed some Art Crayons with white acrylic paint, this works great!
Before I started this project I had a look in the pattern papers and fussy cut some of the flowers out from the “picked for you” Paper and so I knew what kind of colors I wanted to use.

#2zebra-mixed

I grabbed the bubble wrap and pressed it into the wet acrylic paint, flipped it over and stamped it in the middle of the Foundation Paper. I love how this is looking and the acrylic paint dries pretty quickly.

#3zebra-bubbles

After that first layer was dry I decided to add some stencil brush work. I mixed some Art Crayons together and applied it through the stencil with the big stencil brush on top of the bubble wrap stamping. It´s a nice tone on tone detail and I really like it.

#4zebra-brushbg

To finish that background I decided to add some rose gold splatters. I watered the glaze down just a tiny bit, so much easier to get some nice small splatters. Another nice detail in the mix

#5zebra-bgrose

I centered all my elements in the middle from the page. The big Kraft tag is the base for everything; I placed the photo on top of it and added two clouds to it. The flowers and DieCuts were placed around it to create a nice balanced scene. My journaling was written on a yellow label from the Frames Pack and to complete this project I scattered some epoxy dots from the Finishing Embellishments Pack.

I really had fun with this Layout and I hope you´ll like it too

Watercolor & Gesso | Vicki Boutin

[werbung]
Hi everyone, Jana here with a fun new Layout for you. I have these cute photos from my little one when he was having a great time with his aunt… she has made so many awesome faces and he was able to make them all too! That was hilarious… ha-ha, oh my! Please, look at him, isn´t he the cutest little monkey?!

#10note-complete

I started with a CutFile from Paige Evans (used it on different patterned Papers from Vicki´s “all the good things” Collection), a sheet of the white Foundation Paper and Gesso. I also used one of Vicki´s Stencils…

#1note-gesso

I added a thick layer of Gesso through the Stencil but also smudged some of the Gesso down on the Paper with a palette knife. I wanted to have a messy layer under the watercolors. I really love when the color runs over it, looks messy and awesome!

#2note-gesso

Since I already knew that I wanted to use watercolors I chose the colors after the paper stars. I’ve tested all the watercolors on paper and I should know what they look like, but somehow it turns out that I was wrong with the colors I used. But that was not a problem, I changed some things and it worked perfect.

#3note-gesso

Ok, now look at this!! It just looks awesome, right? I so love it when the watercolor runs over the paper… between the Gesso lines and over the bumpiness from the Paper… just LOVE it!

#4note-gesso-watercolor

Because I wanted to use some black papers I decided to add black watercolors in the blue mix. I have played with the colors, with more and less water just for different opacity from the colors. I also dabbed some of the colors off with a paper towel… I really like how this is looking and it´s giving so much depth to the mix.

#5note-gesso-watercolor

I used some of the big stars, the insides from the outlines and added some layers of tissue paper to the biggest one. I wanted to add the photos on that star but because of the dark color I needed to lighten it up, just a bit. I really love the black paper with the white script on it but there is already black on the background and I don´t wanted to have it to dark.

#6note-gesso-stars

I stitched the tissue paper on the big star and ruffled up the edges. I placed a black tag behind the photos and added the big word NOTE next to them. I limited my use of elements to just a few. The background is busy enough, right?

#7note-gesso-sneak

The typewriter was used for my Journaling and I decided to cut it to thin paper strips. I wanted to see the colors between the lines and I don´t wanted to have block of text… it gives some movement and added a nice look to it.

#8note-gesso-journaling

I added some blue Enamel Dots around the photos and stitched the journaling strips down to the paper. The last touches were the black foam hearts. I am totally happy with this project
